Starr is a native born Miamian and a mostly self-taught photographer. With over 10 years photographing portraits and events, she has found her true passion lies in telling the stories of those that don’t often show up in the collective community gaze … underrepresented populations; especially women.
The last few years, she has focused her work on creating exhibits of portraits and narratives to spotlight these communities with hopes of improving awareness and engagement. Relationships and collaboration are at the heart of the projects.
Starr makes a living by making portraits for professionals in their workplaces, individuals and families.
Starr would like to thank the photographers that donated their time and talent to make the evocative portraits you will see in the exhibit, to Frederic Friedmann for printing the show and most especially the women. The women are truly the warriors trying to make something of their lives despite the odds.
